Alka Yagnik celebrates Padma Bhushan award after health challenges

Bollywood singer Alka Yagnik expressed her happiness and emotion on social media after receiving the prestigious Padma Bhushan award.

In her response on Instagram, Alka mentioned that the past two years have been challenging for her. She explained that due to health issues, she had to stay away from public events, media, and social activities.

“I have been away from the limelight and public events for the past two years. During this period, I went through difficult health conditions. However, the love, prayers, messages, and constant support from my fans were with me every moment,” she wrote.

Describing the receipt of the Padma Bhushan as an extremely proud and humble moment in her life, she said, “This honor is not just mine; it belongs to the millions of listeners who made my voice a part of their lives, loved my songs for generations, and stood by me in every moment of joy and sorrow.”

On Tuesday, Draupadi Murmu presented the Padma Awards 2026 at a special ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

About two years ago, Alka had publicly disclosed that she was affected by sensorineural hearing loss, a condition that reduces hearing ability. Despite her health issues, she expressed gratitude for the support and love received from her audience and well-wishers. -From BBC
