Families of the Madhes movement martyrs staged a protest in front of the Madhes Bhawan in Janakpur, accusing the provincial government of not addressing their demands.

On Tuesday, they demonstrated at the entrance of Madhes Bhawan, demanding autonomy for the Madhes Martyr Foundation and guarantees of education, healthcare, and employment for the martyr families.

The administrative building of the Madhes provincial government has been named Madhes Bhawan.

During the Madhes movement, 63 people were martyred. After federalism was introduced, the government led by Lalbabu Raut issued appointment letters to 52 martyr families for employment, but only 25 were actually employed, and currently, only 10 are working. These family members are employed as office assistants in various government offices of the provincial government.

The families have announced an indefinite protest, claiming they have been deprived of the services and facilities promised to them by the Madhes government.

In the first phase, they protested in front of Madhes Bhawan and warned of more intense protests if their demands are not met.
