The Prime Minister’s Secretariat has clarified that the rumors about canceling the public holiday on Sunday are not true. The government has been providing two days of public holidays per week, on Saturday and Sunday. Following discussions on social media about the potential cancellation of Sunday’s holiday, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat has denied these claims.

Deepa Dahal, the press and research advisor to Prime Minister Balendra Shah, stated that the news about the cancellation of Sunday’s holiday is false. She mentioned, “The government has not made any decision on this matter, and there is currently no preparation to do so.”

Previously, due to ongoing fuel price hikes caused by issues in West Asia, the government decided on Chaitra 22 to implement a two-day weekend to ease the burden on people’s daily lives. However, despite the two-day holiday, there has been no significant reduction in fuel consumption, and complaints have arisen about increased inconvenience for service users. The government’s decision to add a holiday on Sunday, while keeping other public holidays unchanged, has been criticized as impulsive.
