Kathmandu – Due to the current influence of a western low-pressure trough in the upper atmosphere and local winds, various regions of the country are experiencing changes in weather, with the possibility of rain in some areas.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there is a likelihood of moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some parts of the Koshi, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, as well as in the hilly and mountainous regions of the country. Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, and in one or two hilly locations of Sudurpaschim Province.

Similarly, there is a possibility of heatwaves in some parts of the Terai regions of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Tonight, the Koshi Province and the country’s hilly and mountainous regions will generally be cloudy, while the Terai regions of Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces will have partial cloud cover, and the remaining Terai areas will mostly remain clear.

The department has indicated that during the day, the Koshi Province and the country’s hilly and mountainous areas will generally remain cloudy. Some Terai regions will also experience general cloudiness, with a chance of light rain and snowfall in one or two hilly locations of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

To avoid the effects of the heatwave, meteorologists advise staying indoors or in cool places during the day, avoiding unnecessary exposure to the sun, wearing light and cotton clothing, using hats or umbrellas when going outside, and drinking plenty of water and fluids.

The department has urged the public to take necessary precautions as temperatures are expected to rise in the Terai regions and to follow the advice of meteorologists.
