Cloudy weather and rainfall expected in several provinces across Nepal

Kathmandu – Due to the current influence of the upper atmospheric western trough and local winds, various parts of the country may experience cloudy weather and rainfall.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with the hilly and mountainous regions of the country, are generally cloudy, while most areas of the Terai are mainly clear.

Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, as well as in a few hilly areas of Sudurpaschim province.

The department forecasts that this afternoon, the Koshi province and the hilly and mountainous regions of the country will remain generally cloudy, with partial cloudiness in the Terai. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in some areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in a few other hilly and mountainous regions. There is also a chance of rain in a few places in the Terai regions of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Similarly, a moderate heatwave is expected in a few places in the Terai regions of Madhesh and Lumbini provinces, with rising temperatures anticipated in some areas of the Terai in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, the forecast indicates that the Koshi province and the mountainous regions of the country will remain generally cloudy, with partial cloudiness in the hilly areas and Madhesh province, while the rest of the Terai will have mainly clear weather. Light rain or snowfall is possible in a few places in Koshi province and in some hilly and mountainous areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

Additionally, the department has urged special caution for the next three days in districts where temperatures are expected to rise, including Bardiya, Banke, Dang, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta West), Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, and Saptari.

To avoid the effects of the heatwave, it is advised to stay indoors or in cool places during the day, avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun, wear light and cotton clothing, use hats or umbrellas when going outside, and consume plenty of water and fluids.
