The construction work on the Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium in Chitwan has resumed. The construction company had halted work for a month, citing delayed budget disbursement from the Bagmati Province government, which had resulted in non-payment.

According to Bharatpur Metropolitan City’s engineer, Adarsh Pokharel, the construction work has restarted following the release of Rs 90 million from the Bagmati Province government. Division Engineer Santosh Acharya confirmed that the company has been paid according to the submitted bills. The construction is being carried out by Himalayan Kalinchok BBR JV.

The contract is set to expire on Poush 22. Currently, 55 percent of the work is completed. The agreement between Bharatpur Metropolitan City and the construction company was signed in Ashadh 2081, with a completion target of Poush 22, 2083, at a total cost of Rs 755,091,189.

The metropolitan city initiated the project through a bidding process after the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation was unable to continue the work.
