Modi and Lamichhane discuss future cooperation between India and Nepal

Kathmandu– Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane have held a meeting.

Sharing photos of the meeting in New Delhi on social media, Modi expressed his commitment to working together for a prosperous future between the two countries.

Modi also expressed his happiness in meeting Lamichhane. “I am extremely pleased to meet Rabi Lamichhane. I welcome his desire to work closely for a shared and prosperous future, and I fully agree with it,” he wrote on Facebook.

Modi further stated that there will be cooperation to elevate the special and multifaceted relationship between the two countries. “Under our ‘Neighborhood First’ policy, Nepal is a priority partner, and we are eager to collaborate with the new government to take our special and multifaceted relationship to greater heights,” he said.

Lamichhane, leading a Nepali delegation, went on a five-day visit to India on Monday at the invitation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

On Tuesday, Lamichhane was welcomed at the BJP office by party chairman Nitin Navin. On the same day, Lamichhane also met with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Accompanying Lamichhane on the India visit are his wife Nikita Poudel, RSP’s Deputy General Secretary and Member of the House of Representatives Bipin Kumar Acharya, RSP’s Foreign Affairs Chief and Member of the House of Representatives Deepak Bohora, and personal secretary Pradeep Acharya.
