Kathmandu – CPN-UML leader Bishal Bhattarai has accused so-called ‘populist’ forces of attacking the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

He expressed this view while speaking at a program organized by the CPN-UML’s organization department.

Leader Bhattarai claimed that the attacks previously targeted at the party are now aimed at the nation itself. He remarked that the Prime Minister’s statement from the parliamentary rostrum resembled that of an aggressor. He commented that Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s declaration seemed as if he was announcing that “we are aggressors and we seize others’ land.”

He said, “Even now, such attacks against our party continue. Not satisfied with attacking the party, populists have now resorted to attacking the country. They are making statements that question the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Standing at the parliamentary rostrum, the Prime Minister is openly declaring that we are aggressors and that we seize others’ territories. In this context, the program being held under the chief guestship of our revered party chairman is of special significance. Especially, this is his first address at an organization department program after his arrest. In this sense, it is an important platform to present UML’s perspectives in the context of national politics.”

Bhattarai stated that the recent political developments and the arrest of UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli were attacks on the party.
