Prime Minister’s statement has led to the postponement of the House of Representatives meeting after opposition parties obstructed the session.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Balendra Shah made a controversial statement in Parliament, claiming that Nepal has also encroached on India’s border.

Opposition parties have been obstructing meetings of both houses of the Federal Parliament, demanding an apology from the Prime Minister for what they describe as a statement against the country’s territorial integrity and nationalism. They have also demanded that the Prime Minister’s irresponsible remarks be removed from the parliamentary record.

On Tuesday, opposition parties including Congress, UML, CPN, Labour Culture, and RPP reiterated their stance by standing in protest in the house, prompting Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal to adjourn the meeting until Jestha 25.

The obstruction by opposition parties also led to the adjournment of the National Assembly meeting on Tuesday.
