RCB wins second consecutive IPL title, defeating Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have clinched their second consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) title. In the final held in Ahmedabad, RCB defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets to secure the championship.

Along with the trophy, RCB received 200 million Indian rupees. Gujarat, as the runner-up, received 125 million rupees. On the individual front, Rajasthan’s 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryawanshi dominated by scoring the highest 776 runs in the season, earning him the Orange Cap.

Similarly, Gujarat’s Kagiso Rabada took the most wickets, with a total of 29. Suryawanshi also won the Most Valuable Player, Emerging Player, and Super Striker of the Season awards. Additionally, he became the player with the most sixes, hitting 72 sixes this season.

In the title clash, Gujarat, batting first after losing the toss, scored 155 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Washington Sundar was the top scorer for Gujarat with an unbeaten 50 runs. In a tight bowling performance against Gujarat, Rasikh Salam took 3 wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood claimed 2 wickets each.

Chasing a target of 156 runs, Bangalore achieved the target with 12 balls to spare, losing 5 wickets in the process to defend their title. For Bangalore, opener Virat Kohli played an unbeaten innings of 75 runs. Another opener, Venkatesh Iyer, scored 32 runs, and Rajat Patidar contributed 15 runs. Tim David added 24 runs to the total.
