Nepal sets 314-run target against China in T-20 World Cup qualifiers

Kathmandu – In the ongoing T-20 World Cup match under the Asian Games qualifiers, Nepal has set a massive target of 314 runs against China. In the match taking place in Singapore, Nepal’s top order delivered an explosive batting performance, setting a record innings.

This is Nepal’s second-highest target in T-20 internationals. Previously, Nepal scored 314 runs against Mongolia during the Asian Games on 27 September 2023. Today, against China, Nepal scored 313 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

After losing the toss and batting first, Nepal’s high score was bolstered by opener Kushal Bhurtel, who delivered a career-best explosive century. He scored 129 runs off 43 balls, hitting 5 fours and 16 sixes. This is his highest score in T-20 internationals, and he also completed the milestone of 2,000 runs in T-20 internationals. Additionally, he joined the ranks of players who have hit 6 sixes in a single over. This was his second century in T-20 internationals.

Apart from Bhurtel, Kushal Malla scored 85 runs off 47 balls, hitting 8 fours and 5 sixes. Similarly, Rohit Paudel played an unbeaten innings of 69 runs off 21 balls, with the help of 5 fours and 7 sixes. Asif Sheikh was out for 11 runs. Bhurtel and Malla shared a partnership of 175 runs for the second wicket.
