Nepal faces Scotland in crucial ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match

In Kathmandu, Nepal and Scotland are set to face off today in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. The match is taking place at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, where Scotland won the toss and opted to bowl first.

There are no changes in the Nepali team for today’s match. The playing eleven includes Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Rohit Paudel, Dipendra Singh Airee, Ishan Pandey, Gulshan Jha, Sompal Kami, Nandan Yadav, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Lalit Rajbanshi. So far, three matches have been completed in the ongoing series between Nepal, America, and Scotland.

Scotland has emerged victorious in both of its matches. In the first game, Scotland defeated Nepal by two runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method, and in another match, they also beat America by the same margin using the same method.

The third match was between Nepal and America, where Nepal secured a nine-wicket victory last Saturday. In today’s game, Nepal aims to defeat Scotland to keep their hopes alive for qualifying in the World Cup Global Qualifier. Nepal currently stands in seventh place on the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 points table.

To qualify for the World Cup Global Qualifier, Nepal must win all of their remaining 10 matches and finish in the top six to retain their One Day International status.

Therefore, today’s match is crucial for Nepal. After 26 matches, Nepal has nine wins, 15 losses, and two no-results, accumulating 20 points and placing them in seventh position on the table.

Meanwhile, Scotland holds the top position. Out of 30 matches, Scotland has won 16, lost eight, and had six no-results, amassing a total of 38 points.
