Three arrested with 590 cartons of Chinese vapes in Mustang

Kathmandu— Three individuals have been arrested with 590 cartons of Chinese electric cigarettes (vapes) from Eklevatti in Lomanthang Rural Municipality-4, Mustang.

The Armed Police Force apprehended the three, along with the vapes and various other items, on the night of Jestha 1. The arrested individuals are Santosh Lama from Dhunibesi Municipality-1, Dhading; Phunchudorje Tamang from Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2, Sindhupalchok; and his friend Pasang Sherpa from the same rural municipality-3.

They were intercepted while traveling towards Kathmandu in containers with registration numbers Na 6 Kha 4743 and Na 5 Kha 7921 via the Korola checkpoint. The joint team of the Armed Police Force, Nepal Border Out Post Nechung, Nepal Police, and Mustang Customs Office made the arrest.

In addition to the electric vapes, the police seized 259 cartons of shoes from various companies, eight sacks of socks, 15 sacks of clothing, and 15 kg of empty carton boxes (used for packing goods).

The individuals taken into custody have been handed over to Nepal Police for necessary action, and the confiscated goods have been submitted to the Mustang Customs Office, according to Armed Police Deputy Inspector General and spokesperson Bishnu Prasad Bhatt.
