The government has been issued a short-term interim order not to implement the decision to dissolve the civil servants’ party-affiliated trade union.

The constitutional bench issued the interim order based on a majority decision in response to a writ filed by Bhawani Dahal, president of the Nepal Civil Servants Organization Central Committee, along with four others.

The Supreme Court has also issued a show cause order and called both parties for discussions regarding the interim order.

According to the Supreme Court, Acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla and Justices Kumar Regmi and Hari Phuyal supported the interim order, while Justices Binod Sharma and Saranga Subedi opposed it.

On the same day, a bench led by Justice Shrikant Poudel also issued a short-term interim order not to implement the decision to dissolve the student union.
