President Poudel to present government’s policy at Parliament session tomorrow

Kathmandu – The federal Parliament’s budget session is set to commence tomorrow, Monday. The government’s policy program will also be presented on the same day.

President Ram Chandra Poudel is scheduled to address the joint meeting of both houses of the federal Parliament tomorrow, according to Parliament Secretariat spokesperson Ekram Giri.

As per Article 95 of Nepal’s Constitution, the President will present the government’s policy and program at 4:00 PM, he informed.

This article mandates that the President address the joint meeting of both houses after the first session following the election of the House of Representatives and at the beginning of the first session each year.

The Parliament Secretariat has requested members of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly to be present before 3:45 PM for the joint meeting where President Poudel will present the policy and program. Prior to this, meetings of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly will be held at 2:00 PM.

According to the Parliament Secretariat, the agenda for the House of Representatives includes informing the house about the letter from the President regarding the convening of the session and updates from the President’s office about changes in the Cabinet.

Additionally, the agenda includes the nomination of members to chair meetings in the absence of the Speaker, the presentation of the draft of the House of Representatives Rules, 2079, and the approval of the removal of obstacles as per Rule 260 of the House of Representatives Rules, 2079.

Furthermore, the government will present eight ordinances, including the ‘Public Procurement (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2083’, ‘Special Provision Ordinance on the Dismissal of Public Office Holders, 2083’, and the ‘Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers, and Procedures) First Amendment Ordinance, 2083’. These ordinances will also be presented in the National Assembly meeting.
