Bus and tipper collision in Jhapa injures 10 people

A bus and a tipper collided at Schoolchan Bazaar in Gauradaha Municipality-5, Jhapa, on Thursday morning, injuring 10 people.

The accident occurred around 11 AM when a bus with registration number Me 1 Kha 2499, traveling from Damak to Chapramari, and a tipper with registration number Pra 2–03–001 Kha 7153, heading from Madhumalla to Damuna, collided on an inner road section.

Among the injured are bus driver Krishna Prasad Rajbanshi and passengers Yogmaya Niraula, Kalpana Prasad Urau, Sharada Devi Paudel, Salina Khatri, her 6-year-old daughter Sarnachana Khatri, Saroj Ram, Kalpana Sigdel, Srijana Parajuli, and Kismat Khadka.

Considering the condition of Yogmaya Niraula, she has been referred to NIMS Hospital in Damak for further treatment.

The other injured are receiving treatment at the local municipal hospital in Gauradaha, according to the police. Among the injured, two are reported to be in moderate condition, while the others have sustained minor injuries.

According to the District Police Office, the Maharani Jhoda Police Post has taken the tipper driver and both vehicles into custody. Further investigation into the incident is underway, the police have informed.
