Unseasonal rains have repeatedly disrupted the BP Highway in the Roshi area of Kavrepalanchok, prompting the district security committee to impose a complete ban on nighttime travel. To mitigate the risks of floods and landslides, the road will be closed from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM starting Tuesday until further notice.

According to the Kavre District Police Office, the decision was made due to the increased risk of floods in the Roshi River washing away temporary road diversions, posing a threat to travelers’ safety.

Just on Monday, security forces successfully rescued 89 passengers stranded between Laskot and Ghumaune in Roshi Rural Municipality at 1:00 AM. With roads blocked by rain, vehicles have been halted at Dhulikhel, Mangalatar, and Nepal Thok in Sindhuli.

Last year’s devastating floods washed away approximately 18 kilometers of road from Chaukidanda to Nepal Thok. Since then, transportation has been operating via temporary diversions along the riverbanks.

The Bhaktapur Division Road Office has reported ongoing construction of a permanent road in the area. Security agencies have urged the public to travel only during the day after checking the highway’s condition and to avoid travel in risky situations.
