Man from Thapathali squatter settlement commits suicide in Bagmati River

A man from the Thapathali squatter settlement in Kathmandu has committed suicide. He had been living in the settlement that the government recently demolished with bulldozers. On Friday, he jumped into the Bagmati River, taking his own life.

According to the police, his identity has not yet been established. The police have retrieved the body from the Bagmati River. He reportedly jumped into the river suddenly while moving his belongings.

Previously, a 17-year-old boy from the Thapathali squatter settlement had also committed suicide.
