The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has urged caution in Lumbini Province’s Bardiya, Banke, Dang, and Arghakhanchi districts, as well as surrounding areas, due to the possibility of high-speed winds starting tomorrow evening, Baisakh 16.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the windstorm is expected to begin at around 5:45 PM on Wednesday and last until around 7:45 AM on Baisakh 17. During this period, there is a likelihood of thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and rain moving from west to east.

The authority has indicated that the windstorm could lead to risks such as trees falling, weak structures collapsing, roofs being blown off, and disruptions to electricity and communication services. The Terai and inner Madhesh districts are expected to be particularly affected.

In this context, the authority has advised residents to stay indoors as much as possible, securely close windows and doors, and reinforce weak roofs, such as those made of corrugated sheets. Additionally, people are urged not to stay under tall trees, poles, or power lines during the storm and to avoid touching any fallen wires.
