Jhapa – Various sections of the Mechi Highway will be partially closed from Baisakh 18 to 25 for maintenance and landslide control work.

The District Administration Office, Ilam, issued a notice stating that the highway will be closed to reduce the risk of potential accidents and to create an uninterrupted work environment in some hazardous sections.

According to the notice, the road closure is necessary for the repair of the old steel truss bridge located at Rajduwali, landslide control in the Rajduwali section, and rock cutting work on the steep cliffs of the Baghkhor road section in Rong Rural Municipality.

The administration stated that this step was taken considering security sensitivities, as machinery will be used and there is a risk of falling rocks during these operations.

As per the request of the Road Division Ilam and the decision of the District Security Committee meeting, vehicular movement will be completely halted on the mentioned sections from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM each day from Baisakh 18 to 25.

During the road closure, the District Administration Office has advised passengers and drivers to use alternative routes.

As alternatives to the Rajduwali road section, the Mechi Corridor (Golakhark-Belase) or Simlagolai-Tilkeni roads can be used. For the Baghkhor road section, small vehicles can use the Hanspokhari-Hapen Chowk road.

The notice, signed by Assistant Chief District Officer Raju Prasad Paudel, urges the public to cooperate with this step taken for development and security.

The administration has requested the public to plan their journeys using alternative routes during the road maintenance period to avoid potential inconvenience.
