The Transport Management Office in Radheradhe, Bhaktapur, plans to distribute 176,250 two-wheeler and four-wheeler driving licenses within six months.

The office began distributing licenses from Tuesday, covering all from 2022 to 2024 and some from 2025, and has distributed a total of 3,000 licenses by Thursday, according to Information Officer Jeevan Basnet.

Basnet mentioned that an additional 100,000 licenses are yet to be printed. He said, “We started distributing licenses from Tuesday, with 800 on the first day and a total of 3,000 by the third day. Despite eight staff members working from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, it’s not possible to distribute more than a thousand licenses a day. At this rate, it will take six months to distribute all the licenses.”

He urged service seekers not to crowd daily to collect licenses sent by the government, suggesting they use the bill or mobile apps to show their licenses, thus avoiding crowds and visiting gradually.

Since the office began distributing driving licenses, there has been an increase in crowds of service seekers who have been waiting for four years. Basnet informed that the office opens at 9:00 AM, and the distribution starts immediately due to the crowd gathering as early as 7:00 AM.

Service seekers who applied for renewals and those who passed the written and practical exams have been operating vehicles using receipts for the past four years while waiting for new licenses.
