Kathmandu — A discussion has been held on the poetry collection Poetic Diaspora, written by poet Anusha Sharma Subedi. The event took place during a special event in Hattiban, Lalitpur, where the work was critically reviewed.

Professor Arun Gupto, the chief guest at the program, remarked that the poems are deeply thoughtful. He noted that all 130 poems, written in English, are remarkably powerful, highlighting the poet’s strong ability to capture themes and play with language, as well as her vivid imaginative expression.

Similarly, poet and critic Keshav Sigdel described Anusha’s poems as being of a high literary standard. “Each word carries profound meaning, delicately woven into a refined structure. The rhythmic style inevitably draws in the reader. The poems flow with a devotional undercurrent, while also reflecting a clear sense of inner freedom,” he said.

Another critic, Mahesh Paudel, observed that the poems possess a mature vision of life and the world. He added that they carry a meditative quality and also reflect elements of child psychology.

Poet Sarala KC also noted the emotional strength of the poems. “Reading her work feels like sitting beneath a cool shade. There is power in the words and depth in the feeling. The poems have the ability to emotionally engage the reader,” she said.

Likewise, poet and writer Rajiv Shrestha shared that he found a strong sense of lived experience in Anusha’s poetry. “Her poems feel like reflections drawn from her own life. Having worked closely with her, I know she is a deeply spiritual person who finds profound joy in devotion to Lord Shiva. This spiritual essence is clearly present in her poetry,” he said.

During the program, journalist and writer Deepak Sapkota recited selected poems by Anusha. Journalist and literary figure Raj Sargam moderated the session, engaging in a dialogue with the poet about her work.

Speaking at the event, Anusha shared that poetry has been her medium for expressing what she could not articulate otherwise. “I have captured the emotions of being away from my family for various reasons in these poems. They express feelings I could not say directly. My family has been a great support in bringing this collection to publication,” she said.

She also mentioned her deep love for nature and her strong devotion to Lord Shiva. The program began with a welcome speech by writer and children’s lyricist Rambabu Subedi.
