Kathmandu — The Patan High Court has issued an interim order to halt the general assembly of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

The joint bench of judges Khadak Bahadur KC and Deepak Khanal issued the interim order to stop the 60th annual general assembly scheduled for Chaitra 29 and 30.

Earlier, a bench led by Judge Swikriti Parajuli had instructed authorities to suspend preparations for the assembly while hearing a prohibitory petition filed by the Nepal Petroleum Transport Entrepreneurs Federation.

After hearing arguments from both the petitioner and the defendants on Thursday, the joint bench ordered that the general assembly should only proceed after resolving the membership status of petroleum transport entrepreneurs.

The order states that since the assembly could affect the petitioners, it should not be conducted until a final decision is reached, in accordance with Rule 42 of the High Court Regulations, 2073.

The FNCCI has three types of membership: district and municipal business associations (represented geographically), associate members (including large companies), and commodity-based associations such as the petroleum transport entrepreneurs.
