Kathmandu — Home Minister Sudan Gurung is set to visit the Roshi River area in Kavrepalanchok today for an on-site inspection.

The visit comes amid growing complaints from local residents, who have been facing severe hardships and losses due to recurring floods during the monsoon season. The Roshi River has repeatedly caused significant damage to nearby settlements and agricultural land.

According to his secretariat, the minister will assess the current situation in flood-affected areas and gather detailed information on high-risk settlements.

During the inspection, he is expected to review the extent of damage, understand local challenges, and instruct concerned authorities to prepare and coordinate measures for infrastructure protection and long-term flood risk mitigation.

The visit also follows ongoing concerns about disaster preparedness, as the government has been emphasizing early action to reduce the impact of seasonal floods.
