KATHMANDU — A habeas corpus petition filed by Radhika Shakya, the wife of former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, seeking his release, is scheduled for hearing at the Supreme Court on Monday.

The petition argues that Mr. Oli’s arrest and detention are unlawful and prejudicial, as they were carried out before the official publication of the inquiry commission’s report.

According to Supreme Court administration officials, the hearing has been scheduled for Monday, Chaitra 16.

Following arguments from the petitioner’s side, the court is expected to decide on Mr. Oli’s detention.

The petition also claims that arresting an individual based solely on recommendations violates the fundamental right to personal liberty.

Meanwhile, at the Kathmandu District Court, arguments over extending Mr. Oli’s detention by 10 days have concluded, and an order is expected shortly.
