Kathmandu — The United Nations has adopted a resolution based on Nepal’s proposal regarding an International Day of Well-Being. The resolution was passed by the General Assembly today.

The day will now be observed every year on April 15 in countries around the world. According to Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Lok Bahadur Thapa, the resolution states that health does not merely mean the absence of disease, but represents overall well-being encompassing physical, mental, social, cultural, emotional, and environmental aspects.

Ambassador Thapa said the resolution also emphasizes the need to promote preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyles, and inclusive health systems in order to build resilient and sustainable societies worldwide.

Expressing gratitude to the countries that supported and co-sponsored the proposal, Ambassador Thapa said the adoption of the resolution is an important diplomatic achievement for Nepal.
