As election day approaches, traffic congestion is increasing in the Kathmandu Valley. With regular traffic police deployed outside the valley for election security duties, there had been some difficulties in managing traffic at various busy intersections in the capital. To control the growing jams, election police are now also being deployed to assist with road traffic management.

These officers are playing an active role in maintaining vehicle discipline, clearing traffic congestion, and helping commuters move smoothly.

According to Navaraj Adhikari, Chief of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police, some traffic officers were sent outside Kathmandu as the election drew nearer, which reduced manpower available for regular traffic duties within the valley.

At present, election police are being deployed alongside other police personnel at various locations, and they are helping in traffic management during times of road congestion.
