Kathmandu- Poet Asmita Bista launched her poetry collection ‘Blackholema Geetharu’ on Saturday at Sarwanam Theatre in Kathmandu.

The book was unveiled jointly by poet Shravan Mukarung, writer Bimala Tumkhewa, critic Gurung Sushant, and the author herself.

Speaking at the event, Mukarung praised the collection as a strong and accomplished work in terms of poetic structure, noting that it reinforces the significance of contemporary Nepali poetry. He highlighted that the book presents love as a timeless theme through Bista’s original and distinctive voice, establishing her unique place among modern poets.

Critic Gurung Sushant described the poems as powerful expressions of love, feminine sensibility, Indigenous aesthetics, and social resistance. He added that, while the poems may seem deeply personal, they also serve as layered political texts and important records of women’s lived experiences.

Writer Bimala Tumkhewa emphasized the collection as a sharp and resonant voice in contemporary Nepali literature, praising its vivid imagery, clear language, and nuanced portrayal of women’s everyday lives.

Poet Bista, a faculty member at Mahendra Multiple Campus, Dharan under Tribhuvan University, said her poems are shaped by her personal experiences, academic work, and observations of everyday life.

Published by Indigo Inc., the book is priced at Rs. 349.
