Singer and Actor Prashant Tamang Dies at 43, Nepali Indian Idol Winner Passes Away in Delhi

Kathmandu — Singer and actor Prashant Tamang has passed away, according to a post on social media by fellow singer Pramod Kharel. “What an unpleasant and unexpected piece of news to hear. Dear Prashant Tamang is no longer with us. May he rest in peace,” Kharel wrote.

Tamang died today at his residence in Delhi, officials have said.

He was the first person of Nepali origin to win the Indian television singing competition “Indian Idol” in 2007 broadcast on Sony Entertainment TV.

Tamang also appeared as an actor in the Nepali films Gorkha Paltan and Pardeshi.
