Kathmandu – Efforts are underway to control a fire that broke out at a wood warehouse in a house located in Sinamangal, the capital.

Following the massive fire on Tuesday afternoon, operations at the nearby Tribhuvan International Airport were briefly affected. However, the airport has since resumed operations after three fire engines managed to bring the large flames under control.

According to Pawan Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Police Range, while the massive flames have been suppressed, the fire has not yet been fully extinguished. The fire also spread to the nearby Loyola School.

Bhattarai stated that while the largest plumes of fire are under control, efforts are still ongoing to completely put out the flames at both the wood industry site and Loyola School.

A massive column of smoke was seen rising over Sinamangal following the outbreak of the fire.
