Kathmandu — Decisive talks are underway between Ravi Lamichhane, chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA), and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Sah (Balen).

The talks have been ongoing since 12:30 pm on Thursday at the home of Kuman Wengzankar in Jhwalang, Lalitpur. According to RASWPA leader Ganesh Karki, Ravi and Balen are engaged in a “one-to-one” discussion.

Karki said they are discussing how the alternative new forces could come together as one.

According to him, the idea of advancing Balen as prime minister has not yet been discussed within RASWPA. However, it has emerged that Balen wants to go forward as prime minister.

Ravi and Balen had also met on Monday night, but since no concrete decision was reached in that meeting, Balen held intensive discussions last night about joining with other new forces. He talked with political party leaders, artists, journalists, social activists, and former administrators.

After last night’s discussions, Balen also held talks with Kulman Ghising on Thursday morning. Sources say they are also discussing the possibility of joining forces.
