Kathmandu — Legendary actor Rajesh Hamal has said that in any profession, one should strive to define themselves at the highest level, and this is only possible through honest work. He made these remarks on Friday during the “Life and Advertising” session on the second day of Kitab Jatra, organized by the Kitab Yatra Foundation at Nepal Police Club.

Hamal said that when writing a book, he found it difficult because he is not the type of person who easily shares personal matters. However, having to “pour his life into the book” was challenging for him. He told his publisher that it would be hard to put his life into words, but after being given a format, the book was completed.

Although he initially thought the book would be finished in six months to one year, it ultimately took three years to complete. During this time, he experienced deep discussions with the author Yogesh about matters of the heart.

Hamal explained that the book honestly covers various aspects of his life, childhood, experiences, his responsibility to society, and his perspectives. He noted that when the book touches on the lives of people he met at different points in life, those parts can be especially sensitive.

Hamal also engaged in a discussion with facilitator Abhay Pandey about life, identity, and experiences. He said that people are naturally curious about others — “how I appear, and what others think of me” — and that everyone has their own viewpoints and thinking. Creative people, he said, should be free to create in their own way.
