Gen-Z Protests: 267 Arrested Over Arson and Vandalism

During the Gen-Z protests on 23–24 Bhadra in Kathmandu, 267 people have been arrested on charges of arson and vandalism, according to the Kathmandu District Police.

So far, 154 cases have been filed for property damage and fire.
Police say 87 people were released on bail, while 113 are under investigation: 33 on bail, and 43 have been sent to jail for trial.

A total of 104 complaints have been registered relating to arson, vandalism, and criminal disturbance: 22 against individuals, 66 against government offices, and 16 against institutions/ businesses — including cases involving the Supreme Court and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.

There are 42 petition-withdrawal applications, including three police personnel. 
DNA testing is underway for seven unidentified individuals. 
The police have completed 228 survey-reports on structural damages to buildings during the protests.

During the unrest, 102 prisoners who fled from various jails were recaptured and re-incarcerated, and 83 guns were recovered and brought into custody.
