Kathmandu: Two days after the Election commission submitted details of results of the election held in November 20 for Federal Parliament, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has asked Prime Ministerial aspirant(s) to stake the claim under article 76(2) of the constitution.
A press release by the President’s office Sunday said that since no party obtained absolute majority qualifying itself to form the government under article 76(1), Bhandari has set Dec 25–Christmas day–to stake the claim under article 76 (2).
That will mean any leader mustering support of two or more parties and furnishing credible proof to the President should stake the claim before the President.
In turn, she will be asking such person to form the government and secure a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives within a month of taking the oath of office and secrecy.
