Severe flood in Bhotekoshi: 18 people including 3 police officers missing

Kathmandu – A severe flood in the Bhotekoshi River at the Rasuwagadhi checkpoint in Rasuwa has left 18 people, including three police officers, missing.

According to the District Police Office in Rasuwa, the heavy flooding occurred this morning due to continuous rainfall in the region of China. Among the missing are Assistant Sub-Inspector Lal Bahadur Shrestha, and officers Munna Thakur and Lokendra Bohara, from the Timure Police Station, who were dispatched for rescue operations. Additionally, nine Nepali and six Chinese nationals are also unaccounted for.

The District Administration Office reported that the Friendship Bridge linking Nepal and China sustained complete damage at around 4 AM, halting all movement of people and vehicles.

Further, the flood damaged an EV charging station in Gosainkunda Municipality Ward No. 2 around 4:30 AM and swept away 7 to 8 electric vehicles. There is also reported damage at the yard of the Rasuwa Customs Office and to the dam of the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower project, according to officials.
