Kathmandu – Early Monday morning, around 3:15 AM, continuous rainfall on the Chinese side caused flooding in the Bhotekoshi River, which damaged the Miteri Bridge located in the Gosaikunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa district.

The Miteri Bridge serves as a key gateway connecting Nepal and China, and the flooding has reportedly impacted its physical structure.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority reported that the floodwaters also reached the customs yard in Timure of the same ward, sweeping away several cargo containers.

There have been no reports of human casualties so far, but authorities have issued a warning for residents in lower coastal areas to remain alert, as the river’s water flow remains high.

Additionally, it has been reported that the water level at the Betrawati gauging station on the Trishuli River in Nuwakot district has crossed the warning level and continues to rise.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged people living in areas surrounding the lower coastal regions of the Trishuli River to exercise caution.
