In Texas, a severe flood has claimed the lives of at least 78 people so far. Officials report that an additional 41 individuals are still unaccounted for. This sudden flood struck the central region of Texas on Friday, leaving the area in crisis.

Kerr County was particularly hard-hit, with authorities reporting 68 fatalities, among them 28 children. A significant loss occurred when the ‘Camp Mystic,’ a Christian girls’ camp along the riverbank, was swept away by the floodwaters. A counselor and 10 girls from the camp are still missing.

Officials fear the death toll could rise as forecasts predict more storms may hit the region within the next 24 to 48 hours, and hopes of finding the missing alive are fading.

The already challenging rescue efforts are becoming more difficult as rescuers face the threat of venomous snakes. Three days after the flood, Texas has launched one of its largest search and rescue missions to date, which is now shifting its focus from finding survivors to recovering bodies, according to officials.
