Kathmandu – The country is currently experiencing the influence of the monsoon winds, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast Division. The monsoon’s low-pressure system is situated close to its average position.

There is partial to generally cloudy weather across Nepal. Some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces are experiencing light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms. The Weather Forecast Division predicts similar partial to generally cloudy conditions throughout the day.

There is a likelihood of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and a few areas in Madhesh Province. Heavy rainfall may occur at one or two locations in the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki Provinces.

The forecast also indicates a chance of light to moderate rain or snowfall in some parts of the high hills and mountainous regions. Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy across the country. Most areas in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with some locations in other provinces, might see light to moderate rain with thunderstorms.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected at one or two locations within Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces. In addition, light to moderate rain or snowfall may occur in a few places in the high hills and mountainous regions.

Residents of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, where heavy rainfall is anticipated, are advised to exercise extreme caution. With the potential for heavy rain, risks such as landslides, floods, and erosions are present, posing a threat of urban and Terai flooding. Water levels in rivers and streams may rise, impacting daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, and construction work near riverbanks, as well as road and air transportation. The authorities urge the public and concerned agencies to take necessary precautions and prepare accordingly.
