Kathmandu – Nepal Airlines, the national flag carrier of Nepal, is marking its 67th anniversary. Established on July 1, 1958, with a Dakota aircraft seating 28 passengers, the airline has expanded its international operations.

Today, it flies to several countries including India, Qatar, Japan, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia using two wide-body Airbus A330 and two narrow-body Airbus A320 aircraft.

However, on the domestic front, the airline’s services are limited due to a shortage of aircraft. Currently, it operates only two Twin Otter planes for local flights.

Despite being over 50 billion rupees in debt and having multiple committees formed for managerial reforms, significant progress has yet to be seen.

Subash Dangi, the airline’s spokesperson, noted that their wide-body aircraft are operating at full capacity. He emphasized that acquiring more aircraft is crucial to expanding domestic flights.

In celebration of its 67th anniversary, the airline organized a friendly football match, poetry reading, and table tennis competition at ANFA ground in Satdobato. A morning procession was also held to mark the occasion.
