After a period of ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that a ceasefire will come into effect within a few hours.

Following Trump’s announcement, Iran’s Foreign Minister indicated that Iran would halt its counterattacks if Israel stops its aggression. According to Trump, the “complete ceasefire between Iran and Israel” is set to be implemented shortly. Citing U.S. authorities, American broadcaster CBS reported that both nations have agreed to the ceasefire, although Israel hasn’t made an official comment yet.

Earlier, in retaliation for a U.S. attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, Iran launched missiles targeting an American military base in Qatar. Iran had notified Qatar beforehand, ensuring there was no damage.

President Trump stated that no American or Qatari citizens were harmed in the attack, describing Iran’s response as “very weak” and expressing gratitude for the prior warning from Iran.

Qatar reported that all missiles aiming at the U.S.-operated Al-Udeid base were intercepted, considering the attack a threat to its sovereignty. Iran’s reaction followed two days after a significant U.S. assault on three Iranian nuclear sites.

Just hours after that assault, President Trump announced the ceasefire between Iran and Israel, though this has not yet been independently confirmed by either nation. Subsequently, Iran hinted at conditional agreement, but Israel has yet to issue any response.
