Nepal protests Indian activities affecting peace and harmony along the Mahakali border area
Kathmandu: Nepal today sent a diplomatic note to the government of India seeking immediate closure of India’s one sided constructing activities along the border that has created sense of insecurity and tension on the Nepal side.
The note sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Embassy of India here and Nepal Embassy to the government of India has asked Delhi to immediately stop the construction works on the Embankment of the Mahakali River resulting in the encroachment of the Border river. The note has asked the government of India to
immediately stop such unilateral activities and consult with Nepal in future as per the established norms of diplomacy that the neighbouring states need to follow.
According to the foreign ministry sources, the note has drawn the attention of Indian side about the tension prevailing on the Nepal side, and ongoing protest there.
This is the second note that Nepal has sent to India on similar issue in a gap of two months. Earlier, Nepal had protested over the death of a nine year old child–Pawan Mahara–after the unilateral construction work on the Indian side resulted in a stone flying over to the Nepal side and hitting him.
Foreign Ministry sources here said there was no response or regret from the Government of India side yet.
