Former King Gyanendra Shah receives grand welcome in Pokhara

Pokhara: Former King Gyanendra Shah has been given a grand welcome in Pokhara. On Sunday, the people of Pokhara warmly welcomed him at the old airport.

Former King Gyanendra, who arrived in Pokhara at around 3:30 PM via a chartered flight of Summit Air from Kathmandu, was greeted with flower garlands and traditional music. The locals chanted slogans such as “Our King, Our Life” to welcome him. Former King Gyanendra Shah has arrived with other members of his family. Former Queen Komal Shah will arrive in a few days.

The Main Organizing Committee of the Citizen’s Welcome Program, Western Region Pokhara, had called for the public to welcome the former king. According to Arun Giri, the chief of the program’s secretariat, former King Gyanendra will stay in Pokhara for two weeks. Giri mentioned that the former king will visit religious sites around Pokhara during his stay.
