Karnali Nears Playoffs with Win Over Lumbini
Kathmandu – Karnali Yaks have come close to the playoffs in the Nepal Premier League (NPL). On Friday, in the first match of the day, Karnali defeated Lumbini by 5 runs.
Chasing a target of 129 runs set by Karnali, Lumbini managed to score 123 runs in 20 overs, losing 7 wickets.
For Lumbini, Tom Moores scored the highest with 36 runs. Apart from him, Sandeep Jora made 24 runs, while Arjun Saud contributed 13 runs. Captain Rohit Paudel was out after making 10 runs, and Sadbin Zafar was dismissed for 16 runs.
For Karnali, Jason Macksud took 2 wickets, while Sompal Kami, Nandan Yadav, Bipin Sharma, and William Bosisto took 1 wicket each.
This was the final match of the tournament for Lumbini. With just a single win, they ended up at the bottom of the points table, bringing their tournament to an end.
Earlier, batting first, Karnali scored 128 runs in 20 overs, losing 8 wickets.
Karnali built a moderate total after a 72-run partnership between Arjun Gherati and William Bosisto for the fifth wicket. For Karnali, William Bosisto was the top scorer with 44 runs, while Arjun Gherati made 25 runs. Babar Hayat scored 20 runs, and Chadwick Walton added 13 runs. Other players couldn’t contribute much.
For Lumbini, Bikash Agri took 3 wickets, while Tilak Bhandari claimed 2 wickets. Additionally, Ramon Simonds, Sadbin Zafar, and Rohit Paudel each took 1 wicket.
