Market Rally: NEPSE Index Jumps 43 Points

On Wednesday, the fourth trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index closed at a significantly higher level. The index surged by 43.22 points to reach 2742.88 points. The sensitive index also increased by 1.58% to 493.98 points.

With the sharp rise in the NEPSE index, the trading volume also increased compared to the previous day. On Tuesday, when the index had risen by 31 points, the trading volume was over 3 billion. However, on Wednesday, shares worth 5.66 billion Nepalese rupees were traded.

Although the NEPSE index rose by a double-digit number, no company’s share price hit the positive circuit limit. Vijay Laghuvitta and Eastern Hydropower were among the top gainers, while Upper Sangri Hydropower was the biggest loser.

Nepal Finance topped the list in terms of trading volume, followed by Himalayan Reinsurance, NIC Asia Bank, Goodwill Finance, and Hydroelectricity Investment and Development.

Out of the 206 stocks traded, the prices of 206 increased, 35 decreased, and 3 remained unchanged. All sectoral indices closed in the green, with the trading sector recording the highest growth of 3.44%.
