Dharan Mayor bypassed Deputy Mayor, appointed Ward Chair as Acting Mayor.

Harka Sampang, the Mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, has acted against the rules by appointing a Ward Chair as Acting Mayor instead of the Deputy Mayor, Aindra Bikram Begha, who was elected from the CPN Maoist Center.

It is believed that Sampang has given the responsibility to the Ward Chair instead of the Deputy Mayor due to their strained relationship.

He has appointed Lokendra Kumar Fagu, the Chair of Ward No. 11, as Acting Mayor in his absence. Sampang is scheduled to visit the UK on Thursday.

Sampang has written a letter to Ward Chair Fagu, assigning him the responsibility of carrying out the mayoral duties from Asoj 28 until his return from the UK.
