BP Highway to Reopen for Permitted Vehicles from Monday Evening

The Bhaktapur Road Division Office has announced that the BP Highway, which has been obstructed due to landslides, will be reopened for vehicles with route permits starting Monday evening.

Issuing a notice on Monday, the office stated that while a track of approximately 8 kilometers of the highway washed away by the Bhakunde Beshi seasonal river has been cleared, allowing only small vehicles to pass, further improvements are being made near Chaukidaanda and Mamti Khola by Monday evening to facilitate the movement of vehicles with route permits.

The road division has requested travelers to avoid night journeys as there is still a possibility of dry landslides.

The highway, which had been opened for one-way traffic a few days ago, was again obstructed due to dry landslides. Two days ago, a Tata Sumo was damaged due to a dry landslide, and a bus was also damaged in a similar incident. The landslide had also washed away a temporary diversion.

Given the possibility of dry landslides and the current condition of the road, the Chief District Officer of Kavrepalanchok, Umesh Kumar Dhakal, has urged people to travel cautiously.

Speaking to Deshsanchar, he stated that temporary diversions have been constructed in several places and the road condition is still rough in many areas, thus urging vehicle drivers to exercise caution.
