Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has stated that a system will be in place to allow vehicles to ply on the BP Highway, which has been obstructed due to disasters, including diversions, within the next week.

Speaking at a program organized after inspecting the affected areas of Khurkot, Sindhuli this morning during a field visit to the flood and landslide affected districts, Home Minister Lekhak informed that the Department of Roads and the Nepali Army are working to temporarily operate the BP Highway, which has suffered the most damage due to the disaster caused by heavy rains.

Stating that the government is committed to addressing the suffering caused by the disaster, Home Minister Lekhak emphasized the need for everyone to unite to overcome this problem as soon as possible.

He said that everyone should come together to solve the problem of disaster. He said, “There is no politics in this, there is no opposition. All three governments, all political parties, non-governmental organizations, all of us have to solve this post-disaster problem together.”

Minister Lekhak also urged the municipalities to send the list of beneficiaries immediately.

He said, “Within three days of receiving the list of beneficiaries, we will provide relief of Rs. 15 to 20 thousand immediately and Rs. 25 thousand as the first installment for the construction of temporary shelters. For this, the affected district municipalities should send the list of beneficiaries as soon as possible.”
