NEPSE index drops by 50 points, improvement in trading volume

The NEPSE index fell by 50.73 points (1.88%) to 2,637.79 today, continuing a recent downward trend. Despite a rise last week, the market struggled to stabilize.

Today, 24,846,782 shares from 324 companies were traded 119,739 times, totaling NPR 10.34 billion, the highest in the past week.

Significant drops were seen in the finance and hotel sectors (down 3.53% and 3.68%, respectively). Other sectors like banking, development banks, and hydropower also declined. The production, microfinance, and mutual fund sectors also saw reductions.

Out of 219 companies whose share prices fell, 24 saw increases. Notably, River Falls Power, Himalayan Hydropower, and Rawa Energy Development had positive circuit breakers, while Three Star Hydropower had a negative one.

CEDB Hydropower Development had the highest trading value at NPR 643.87 million, while Singati Hydro Energy had the most shares traded, with 934,578 shares.
