Kathmandu: Ashish Shrestha has secured a gold medal in the 8th South Asian Karate Championship held from 18th to 19th July 2024 in Thimphu, Bhutan.
Shrestha who participated at Kumite, Individual under the category of 21 Age Group with 84 plus weight triumphed over Shuvakant Biswal of India in the final. Shrestha scored 6 while opponent got 2. Shrestha secured finals berth defeating Sri Lanka in the semi.
Nepal bagged a total of 31 gold medals in the Championship.
The second Dan Black Belt Shrestha has been playing Shitorio Katate for 10 years.
Shrestha originally from Khangsang, Sindhuli is studying Bachelor of Business Information System (BBIS) at Little Angels’ College of Management (LACM). LACM applauding an outstanding performance by Shrestha has provided him a certificate of achievement amid a ceremony at the College.
