Olga Murray, NYF founder, passes away
Kathmandu, 21 Feb: Olga Murray, an attorney with the California Supreme Court and founder of the Nepal Youth Foundation (NYF), passed away on Tuesday.
Murray, who was born in Transylvania in 1925 and came to the United States at the age of six with her parents, breathed her last at her home in Sausalito, California surrounded by her beloved ones.
She had been an active philanthropist devoting herself to educate the underprivileged in Nepal for four decades. An honorary president of NYF, Murray first came to Nepal in 1984 and established NYF in 1990 to help children’s education in Nepal.
Over the years, NYF has served more than 45,000 children providing them with vital healthcare, education and a safe environment.
Mourning her death, NYF said, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved founder, Olga Murray. She passed peacefully at her home in Sausalito, California, on February 20, 2024. Olga leaves behind a tremendous legacy in the Nepal Youth Foundation—over 34 years of work that was made possible through your belief in her vision and your support for this worthy cause. She will be deeply missed by the entire NYF Community, including our global staff and board of advisors, as well as the thousands of students, individuals, children, and community members she served and partnered with in Nepal.
